VENICE’S CARNIVAL

The Carnival of Venice is unique in the world and its tradition dates back to XI century, although not declared a public holiday until two centuries later

Venice carnival reached its peak in the Eighteenth Century, a time when aristocrats coming from very different places, very often  princes and nobles, would escape and enjoy the event attending feasts.

For centuries it was the way of escape of citizens to evade GRAND VENETIAN GOVERNMENT CONTROL. With the occupation of Venice Napoleon’s army CARNIVAL was banned for fear they will generate plots. CARNIVAL was recovered in 1979.
